Transparency and clarity on petrol pump prices, please

Dudes and dudettes,

I've attached another letter to ST forum.
Sent it 2 days ago.
You'd have realised by now that I'm thick skinned enough to never give up.
Foolhardy ...... as my buddies will put it :-)

Was supposed to go on hols in Melbourne with my wifey from 29 April to 9th May.
But mum in law not well again, hospitalised again.
Hence not going liao.
Family more impt than Aussie BBQ, golf and hugging Koalas.

Your pal,
Mee Pok Tah Mia Hiam

Transparency and clarity on  petrol pump prices, please

Petrol prices have trended upwards in recent times due to sharp crude oil price increases.  In order to retain customer loyalty and to generate new sales, petrol companies have launched into prices wars, offering discounts off pump prices, Percentage discounts are prominently displayed on sign boards at the entrance of each kiosk.

To create more transparency on pricing and better inform consumers of the "special deals", wouldn't it be appropriate for petrol companies to post the pump prices prominently at the kiosk entrances as well?  This is a common practice in other countries like US, Europe and closer to home, Thailand.  I don't think consumers are better off getting 2% extra discount when pump prices have increased 5%.
